Who We Are

We exist to help people find their way home

Whether you’re new to church, have been a Christian for many years, or are looking for a fresh start, you’re welcome here. Our hope is to give you a place where you experience a fresh, enjoyable connection to God and a community of people.

We keep our focus simple so we can have the biggest impact possible. Everything we do as a church is filtered through our focus on helping every person live the full life for which God created all of us.

What We Are About

Discover what Zion Baptist Church stands for.

Our Vision

We are children of God loved by God who seek to make his love known in the city of Waterbury, state of Connecticut, and throughout the world.  The past is a good place to visit, it’s never a good place to stay.

Our Mission

To effectively serve this present-age we know that evolution must occur. Without evolving, we run the risk of not being able to reach the present and future generations.

Our History

The Zion Baptist Church was organized and founded by the late Rev. Clem A. Harvey in November 1921 while pastoring the New Trenton Baptist Church in Emerson, Ohio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our parking team will direct you to the closest available spot. Just follow the smiling faces…we reserve parking spots for our first time guests, so if you’re new to Zion, be sure to turn your flashers on when you enter the parking lot.

As you’re walking to the building, our greeting team will meet you and show you where to find the sanctuary, restrooms, and children’s ministry. If you need anything throughout the day—mints, a Bible, or a pen—feel free to stop by the Guest Services desk. Or, just ask anyone with a ZBC lanyard or name tag. We’re a friendly bunch, and we’d love to serve you.

In ZBC’s Children’s Ministry, children 5th grade and younger experience Jesus on their level. ZBC Children’s Ministry is a collection of safe, age-appropriate environments where kids have their own service with singing, a Bible lesson, and small group time.

We have programming as well for students 6th – 12th grade.  678 is our Middle School Ministry and they meet for teaching and worship at 9:30 & 11AM.  HSM is our High School Ministry and they meet for teaching and worship at 11AM.

We are so passionate about children having fun while they learn about Jesus that we prefer children 5th grade and younger not attend the adult service in the auditorium.

Don’t feel like you have to dress up. Most people wear casual attire, but you are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable.

Services last about one hour. We start by singing three to four songs. Then the speaker preaches. If you want to see our preaching style, check out our current series.

If you’re visiting for the first time, we want to know!. You are a very important person to us!  So please fill out a connection card or stop by the Guest Services desk. We’d love to meet you and answer any questions you may have.

Fill in the blank with whatever fear you have about not being accepted: divorced, single parent, broke, recovering addict, gay, atheist, skeptic, etc. Everyone is welcome at Zion Baptist Church. So come as you are, and we’ll see you on Sunday!
